The group works daily across Dutch and Indian cultures \u2014 and the feedback I received afterwards genuinely moved me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cThe insights about cultural differences, body language, and interpretation of words got us thinking \u2014 and gave us practical tips. We\u2019ll definitely take this knowledge into our projects and collaboration.\u201d<\/em><br>\u2014 NowOnline, via LinkedIn<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>That kind of response reminds me why I do this work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What We Don\u2019t Say<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We kicked off with a deceptively simple question:<br><strong>\u201cWhat really annoys you in a conversation?\u201d<\/strong><br>Interruptions. Sarcasm. Silence.<br>The answers weren\u2019t just about others \u2014 they were clues about ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because conflict isn\u2019t always loud.<br>Sometimes, it\u2019s a missed deadline. A vague email. A gesture misunderstood.<br>Sometimes, it\u2019s what\u2019s felt \u2014 but not said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cI never realised how much silence can signal discomfort \u2014 or disagreement. That was a real eye-opener.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Holding Up the Mirror<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We explored how tone, body language, and cultural interpretation shape our experience of conflict.<br>Dutch directness. Indian nuance.<br>We ran a Four Corners activity \u2014 exploring styles like <strong>Avoidance<\/strong>, <strong>Confrontation<\/strong>, <strong>Harmony<\/strong>, and <strong>Honesty<\/strong>.<br>And yes, there were moments of laughter, reflection, and surprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of my favourite lines from the day:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cSometimes, conflict isn\u2019t about what\u2019s said \u2014 it\u2019s about what\u2019s felt and not said.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>That landed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cThe Four Corners exercise helped me see my own style \u2014 and how it might come across to someone from a different culture.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Power of Non-Verbal<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We touched on <strong>Mehrabian\u2019s principle<\/strong> \u2014 the idea that only 7% of meaning comes from words.<br>The rest? Tone and body language.<br>We ran the \u201cHandbag Sentence\u201d exercise (if you know, you know).<br>And we walked emotions \u2014 literally \u2014 in silence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was playful. It was powerful.<br>And it reminded me that communication is never just about language.<br>It\u2019s about presence. Interpretation.
